Ah, pasta.

I say constantly that my three favorite things in the world are pasta, garlic, and parmesan cheese - there’s something about carbs that really gets me excited. Just imagine - aldente, buttery, garlicky, hot, cheesy pasta… what sounds better?

In the early months of quarantine, I began to get bored of sandwiches and Annie’s mac & cheese. I wanted something I wouldn’t get tired of. Something like… my depression pasta.

I call it my “depression pasta” not because I’m depressed - I’m happy to say that mentally, I’m quite stable. But this recipe is the perfect, easy, delicious meal for anyone who doesn’t want to spend a bunch of time on lunch and isn’t counting their calories.

For the recipe, you will need:

  • Any kind of pasta (my personal favorite is penne)

  • Butter

  • Garlic powder/minced garlic

  • Black pepper

  • Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  • Boil water and cook the pasta until aldente

  • Drain the pasta and use the pot that is still warm to melt enough butter to coat the bottom of the pot

  • Add garlic powder and black pepper to your taste

  • Dump the pasta back into the pot and mix it until the pasta is coated in the butter sauce

  • Add parmesan cheese and let it melt

  • Enjoy!

I hope that anyone with an affinity for carbs and cheese can enjoy this meal. It tastes best eaten at 11pm straight from the pot.

Author's Note: the photo above is NOT an actual photo of my recipe. I just want you to be hungry for pasta. Now go try my recipe!
