One of my absolute favorite things in the world is *drumroll please*...SKINCARE! And I decided it was about time I shared that love with you guys. (Little shoutout to one of my best friends Luisa who has been helping me find good products). I have been suffering from “maskne,” a new phenomenon, that we must treat with skincare products and these products have helped keep my skin clean and clear! These products are also relatively affordable and don't break the bank which is always nice!
Disclaimer: I am in no way a professional and these are just products that work for me! If you want to discuss skincare in more depth, dm the magazine Instagram and I’ll respond :)
Here are my current favorite products:
The Ordinary “Niacinamide Serum” - This is one of my newest products, but I’ve been loving it. It’s a clear liquid that feels very light on my skin. I’ve been using it every morning and night right after I wash my face and before I put any other products on. It is mostly used to reduce face blemishes and keep pores clear. I strongly recommend this product, and the best part is it costs about $6, so you won’t be breaking the bank if you choose to buy it!
La Roche-Posay “Anthelios Aox” Sunscreen - I have never, ever, been a person to wear sunscreen, I hate it! But lately I’ve learned that sunscreen is very important and can reduce chances of developing a skin condition, as well as reduce wrinkles and make you look younger (yes, I know I’m only 17 and so are most of our readers but I learned that it’s good to start these practices early)! The one reason why I’ve always avoided sunscreen was because they usually feel heavy and leave your skin oily. This one is different, it’s very light and feels like any other moisturizer, the only thing that reminds you that this is actually sunscreen is the very very faint smell of sunscreen.
Laneige “Water Bank: Essence” - I’ve been using this product for a couple months and I love it. It’s a light, water based moisturizer that I put on after the serum and sunscreen. I like the subtle glow that it gives my skin without making it oily! I strongly recommend this if you’re looking for a light moisturizer.
Laneige “Water Sleeping Mask” - I have been using this sleeping mask for so long and I absolutely love it! I put it on every single night after I wash my face. It keeps my face super soft and hydrated until the next morning. Out of all these products this is the one I recommend the most, I love Laneige and their products but this one is magical!!
Glossier “Mega Greens Galaxy Pack” Mask - This is a great mask for when you want to clear up your skin a bit. I usually apply it 20-25 minutes before I take a shower and then I wash it off in there because it can get a bit messy. This mask makes my skin feel softer for a couple days after I apply it and personally, it clears up pimples on occasion. I would definitely recommend trying this one out especially on spots you get blackheads and breakouts!
La Roche-Posay “Effaclar: Medicated Gel Cleanser” - I started using this a few weeks ago and it is LIFE CHANGING! It cleared up my “maskne” quite literally overnight and got rid of blackheads. However, it did make my skin very very dry so I had to use the Laneige water mask and essence to bring moisture back into my skin. I recommend this product but remember to add a good moisturizer to your routine if you use this cleanser.
La Roche-Posay “Effaclar DUO: Dual Action Acne Treatment” - I’ve been using this spot treatment in conjunction with the cleanser I mentioned above and it works wonders! Like I said it clears up whiteheads and blemishes overnight! Once again just remember to moisturize after using this to avoid dry skin!
I keep most of my products in a skincare fridge and I’ve been doing this for about a year. I love how cool the products feel and studies show that cold products can reduce puffiness and redness. It’s very refreshing to put on a cold moisturizer in the morning and it definitely helps me wake up! Keeping your skincare products cold can also increase their shelf life!
Well, there you have it, my current favorite skincare products! If you have any questions, suggestions, or just want to talk skincare our DM’s are open!
